Research Background

MT-2 is widely cited in the peer-reviewed literature as a non-selective agonist of the melanocortin receptor family — primarily MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R — across rodent and cell-culture model systems. Researchers use MT-2 to probe melanocortin receptor binding kinetics, downstream cAMP signaling, and gene-expression pathways associated with the eumelanin synthesis cascade in cultured B16 murine melanoma cells, primary melanocyte preparations, and other model systems. It is also referenced in receptor pharmacology studies investigating ligand-biased agonism across the MC receptor subtypes.
